Maderotherapy – massage with wooden instruments

Maderotherapy: wooden tool massage for body contouring

Maderotherapy is a massage technique from Colombia using various wooden tools — rollers, boards, ladles. The instruments allow deep pressure and specific movement patterns on body zones that are harder to work with hands alone.

What happens during maderotherapy

The therapist uses various wooden instruments to apply pressure, rolling and kneading movements to thighs, abdomen, glutes or arms. The treatment is firm and targeted — not gentle wellness. Oil or cream is used for gliding.

  • Wooden rollers, boards and ladles for different body zones
  • Firm pressure — not suitable for relaxation-seekers
  • Clothing: undress for the areas being treated

What to realistically expect

Maderotherapy is often offered in the context of body care. Realistic expectations: the treatment is intense and can temporarily redden the skin. Regular sessions over longer periods are common. A single session is primarily an intensive body care experience.

  • Intense — temporary skin redness is normal
  • Typical: series of sessions over several weeks
  • Single session: intensive body care experience
Is maderotherapy painful?

It can be very intense, especially in sensitive areas. Many describe it as strong pressure. Say something if it feels too strong — the therapist can reduce intensity.

How many sessions are needed?

That depends on your goals. One session is enough for a first experience. For regular treatments, discuss a schedule directly with the studio.
